Dana 60 question
I'm looking for the Dana 60's that will bolt into our trucks. My question is what model of truck sould I look for that has them?
Any other information or pictures of 60's would also be helpful.

Any chevy dana 60 will fit. Available 77 and up. There are single and dually dana 60s. The hub is different. The easy way to identify a front dana 60 is it only has 3 u-bolts holding the axle to the springs (has 2 studs for one side).

Front D60's can range from finding one for free (a miracle) to brand new of over 2000.00
most average used fronts go for 800-1500. Good luck

try looking around before you look for just the axle. sometimes you can buy a crappy and rusty K/30 for cheap then part it out and make $$$. Most common configuration I've seen is 454/TH400/NP205, with the D60 front and 14bff rear, and all these parts are (obviously) desireable.

So far everyone is right about the prices. A rebuildable D 60 front starts at about $800. I got this one for that and it had good internals and that was it. I replaced everything but the r&p and the axle shafts. I had to cut the axle u-joints out with a gas hatchet to replace them. It cost me around $500 at Orealiys to make it road worthy.
Here it is installed in the truck. |

I recently bought my 60 front 14 bolt rear combo with 4:10 gears for 400 bucks. I think I got a better then adverage deal though. They came out of a 80 k30. I installed the front end no problem, just had to get differnt spring plates and brake lines. The rear I have to narrow the spring pads a touch but otherwise shouldnt be a problem.
