Re: marvel mystery oil

I use it quite regularly in our pumping unit and compressor engines at work. It's good for breaking carbon and freeing up sticky rings. I've only used it in oil and thru the intake tho.

Re: marvel mystery oil

Used it once (in the tank of my '13 Cruze so I didn't expect much noticeable difference - just a changeup from Seafoam every 10K) but have researched a little and the consensus seems to be that it works, but is more gentle than Seafoam. I've used Seafoam in intake, fuel, and oil, and am pleased with the results.

Tom
I've always wondered if there was any difference between MMO, regular ATF, military aircraft hydraulic fliud, and Aurora Model Motoring Slot Car Oil? They all look, feel and smell about the same. I'm guessing the difference is all marketing as far as the price and size of the container it came in.
Forty years ago I used to flush my crankcase with Marvel Mysyery Oil after an oil change, and let it drain overnight before refilling with 30 weight. Not so sure that's necessary anymore.

Re: marvel mystery oil

I own a bunch of Subarus. They tend to have sticky hydraulic lash adjusters after a while. I've never found anything that works as well as MMO to free them up.

My wife's 2008 Hylander Hybrid is starting to make valvetrain noise. I just bought some MMO for its crankcase.

I've never used it in the fuel system, but I think it's the best chemical tool I've used in a crankcase.

Smile Re: marvel mystery oil

So what's the best way to use it?
Do you guys add some to the fuel?...if so how much or?.... or pour a little in the carb/intake while the vehicle is running or?
I picked up some last year but I haven't put it to good use yet.

all Good

Re: marvel mystery oil

I have used in both in the oil and gas. No adverse effects, seems to work, yet no miracle cure for other problems that only mechanical work would resolve.

Re: marvel mystery oil

Put it in my MerCruiser inboard outboard. Was running like crap. Carburetor issues. Put half a bottle in the gas. Ran it for most of the day. Ran like a top after that. Mixed in 20 gallon tank.

Re: marvel mystery oil

Stuck rings or valves pour MMO in carb until you kill the engine with MMO and let it set for at least a day before starting it. Be sure to call the non emergency number for the fire department and let them know that they can expect calls. You will not have any mosquitos for a while either.

Yep that's exactly right on all fronts. I feed it into the intake with a squirt can.
