Fng '61 k10

Hey Guys!
I already posted in the welcome section but this section is a bit more specific. I just inherited a '61 K10 with a 396ci in it. Very rough but it's still pretty cool and not bad at all for "free". Reminds me of the dog you get for free that costs you a bundle to be sure but you love it all the more.
I believe my brother's nickname for the truck was the Loogie and you can see why.

Re: Fng '61 k10

I just ordered new tires, 9.00/16 for it. These are the weird old farm tires and are 36"ers. his thing is obviously rough and is not running as of yet but I think the engine is the least of my concerns. It has run in the last five years so once I have the fuel lines installed it should be good to go.
The rest of it may be a different story. Definitely some rust but I do like the patina look. There are so many questions I have about these tks though so I hope you'll be patient with me. Yes, I know how to use the search function and will but I'm sure I'll still ask a lot of repeat questions.
One thing I'm trying to determine is what the stock diff gearing was? I'm assuming it has the original diffs but I really don't know yet. I do have some experience rebuilding/mudding Isuzu's as I built up my '99 VehiCross into a nice little rocker. Which brings me to my question: The Isuzu 12 bolt rear is a nice stout little unit comparable to a D44 and the Corp 12 bolt is a bit stronger than that. These also have disc brakes, LSD, and are a dime a dozen since there are so many Troopers in the pick yards. Their gearing however are 4.30, 4.56, and the very rare 4.77. My guess is this doesn't easily match up to the stock Chevy gearing. What can you tell me?

Nice old 4x4. I really can't give you any answers on the gearing but someone will soon pop up with the answers.

You might get more action on the 4x4 forum http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...splay.php?f=30

Good luck, Rg

Re: Fng '61 k10

Ok, I'll see about getting some pics of the axles etc posted.

I can't edit the post to resize according to board rules since it's been more than 30 minutes.
