1964 chevy swb 4x4 build

Time to start a thread on my 64 4x4 build. Chris, 63GENIII and Jason, argonaut, have been very helpful in getting me ready for my build and I am ready to pay it forward and maybe help the next guy. This may be a slow build but I will post as progress is made. My name is John.

Pic 1, how it came home
Pic 2, stripped and ready for sand blaster
Pic 3, the power!!! Chevy Ramjet 350!!
Pic 4, where it meats, the road....16x10 wheels will use 315 75 tires

no body as of yet but found a good deal on the 4x4 frame will pick up a 2wd for the body donor later.

I'm looking to do the 52"s on front, however I am also going to use the 52's on back. This will be on the street 90% of the time and I am looking for a little better ride than stock, but not wanting as much flexibility as comes with 63"s on back. I have a set of axles from a 1989 blazer which will work fine for my application. The front axle has crossover steering already and the rear axle has been trussed. For the rear springs mounts I am going to use an aftermarket hangers designed for a 1973-87 truck as they will move the spring location out an additional inch and I will not have to cut the pads off my 89 axle. Feel free to chime in with comments or questions. Thx, John.

Re: 1964 chevy swb 4x4 build

Just got my 4" lift shackle flip hangers. These are made by super lift. You can buy them thru summit racing. $143 for the pair and free shipping. They are a beast!!! I am using them for the front and rear of my rear leafs, and I got them for a 1973-87 chevy truck because it moves them out and additional inch and I will not have to relocate the pads on my blazer rear end I am using. It also made sense to me to lower the whole spring for additional lift and to keep the pinion angle closer to where it was. My DIY4x 52 kit is on its way!!!

Here are some updated pics on my 64 4x4. Chassis fabrication is done and ready to start some reassembly. I built my own rear shackles from 3/8 flat stock.

Wow looking good is that 4"'s of lift, looks higher than that but could be cause it's just bare frame, no goodies on it yet.. I see you have some other interesting goodies in the garage.. Is that a bubble top on the far side...anywho looking good...
