Firewall steering column mount
Can someone tell me the uses of the attached firewall steering column mounts?
Why they are different? Different year? Auto? Manuel? Tilt? Non tilt? Etc. Thanks

I honestly can't tell you for sure but I would say different years. I guess it could even be different assembly plants. If I can remember I will look at some of my trucks in the morning and see if I can tell. LockDoc

Re: Firewall steering column mount
The two on the right look the same to me. The one on the left may be for a medium duty truck, judging from the size of the mounting holes?

All 3 of my '67's, and My '68, are like the one on the left. My two '70's, my '71, and my '72 are all like the ones on the right. LockDoc

Re: Firewall steering column mount
Which would you use? I do believe the left one will have more adjustment.

Look close at your mast jacket/column housing, if it has one bump on it use one of the ones on the right, if it has two bumps on it use the one on the left. The bumps fit into the one raised area or the two cutouts on the brackets.... LockDoc

Re: Firewall steering column mount
So this past weekend I switched my non-tilt automatic column (1972) out for a tilt automatic column (1971 or 72, not sure). My non-tilt column used the bracket on the far right, and my tilt column used the one on the far left.
