65 swb bbw rebuild thread

Hi everybody from southern Illinois. I bought this truck with a supposed 327. I started getting a set of 416 305 heads ready for the supposed 327 by porting them out and putting 1.94 valves in them.

Then I bought a 79 k10 with 1 1/4 inch rotors for the front cross member. I pulled the engine and then installed the member in my 65. In the picture you can see Capt. Fabs bracket for the power steering gear box.

Re: 65 swb bbw rebuild thread

While changing the crossmember I pulled the engine and to my surprise 3 and 1/2 inches of stroke. Now I have a set of heads that I have money in that will not work if I want to tow with this vehicle. Plus I really wanted a 327. So I did some trading and got some work done in the garage and started to build my own 327. Started with a pre 1979 4 bolt main 350 block and had it punched 20 over.

Re: 65 swb bbw rebuild thread

I called a machine shop that opened up the 305 heads and asked if he had any large journal 327 or 307 cranks. He sold me one for 30 bucks and I had it turned 10/10.

I am building this motor from scratch so I called a buddy to see if he had some rods and had some flat tops pressed on
