Blow by and power steering bracket?

Should I have any concern with this blow by on the front on the head? I think that is where it is coming from or maybe the intake gasket. Also is this the right ps bracket? Po converted to ps. Definitely doesn't look correct due to all the washers and bolts for spacers for sure.

Thanks

Re: Blow by and power steering bracket?

oil leak is intake gasket, would ignore unless it becomes excessive or a show truck.

P/S bracket is seriously rigged, P/S pump looks misaligned too - replace with proper mount. Pump is for hydraboost (extra return port) you can replace just the can or leave it

LOL rigged is a good word. I'm sorry are you saying I could replace one or the other? Bracket or pump? I think your spell check messed you up. Also I need to do the intake gasket anyway because the rear is leaking so cool. What year bracket would work?

Re: Blow by and power steering bracket?

The pump bracket is from a 65/70 full size Chevy car.
The pump is from an 80's truck.Like BW said,it's for hydroboost.
Both are wrong for your truck.
You should have the "Banjo" style pump and brackets for a 67/72 truck.
But,since it all works,I'd leave it alone until you can get the right parts.

Sorry, to clarify: replace the bracket with the correct one. When it's apart, you can change the reservoir (can) on the pump to get rid of the extra port if you want to (it's not hurting anything)

Re: Blow by and power steering bracket?

My 67 327 has that same ps bracket and it looks factory . Only mine doesn't have a ton of nut spacers. It mounts flush to the motor mount.

Re: Blow by and power steering bracket?

my truck is in pieces so I don't have pictures of it together. here is a picture how it should look. just so you know that bracket has to be used with this type of motor mount in this thread below so it sits flush to the motor mount. this thread should help you a bit. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=606488

Re: Blow by and power steering bracket?

OK, so it looks like the bracket will work,(thanks chewychevy67) but why the spacer nuts? I'm guessing there is a clearance issue some where. Also, why the extra flat washers between the back of the pump & the bracket? Try removing all the extra stuff & re-installing. When you do this, make sure the pulley lines up. It may be that you will need the correct year pump, I've had clearance issues with different year pumps, they are all basically the same but return ports will be different.

Yes it's gotta be just the wrong pump. If I take all those spacers/ bolts off, the pump mounting bolt won't line up. This is not high on my list right now since it works. But I'll get to it. Guess some people fixing a truck for profit find ways to short cut the build.
