I may be a lone wolf here, but I don't think I'd buy a new one. My ultimate joy is in building exactly what I want. If I could go back the A/C wouldn't work like the new vintage air units. We have better stereos, and options here today. Lastly we have much better options for power plants, i.e. Turbo(My personal Favorite especially when coupled with a Big Rat Motor), Nitrous, Displacement. Although dealing with the rust is a little frustrating at times, I do love building on these old vehicles. I've owned several older vehicles, A-Body, Truck etc. So to answer your question I wouldn't do anything differently, I would still build it instead of buying it new.
