WTB Short Water Pump Conversion Parts

I'm looking for the parts to convert my CSB 350 to the short water pump. I don't need the pump itself, I can get that locally. Just need the Driver's Side Alt bracket, Crank Pulley (need a double pulley for Power steering), and water pump pulley. (No A/C)

Right now the truck has manual steering with a long water pump. I'm going to convert it to short pump and power-steering, so I'm looking everything to make that happen.

Thanks!

I think I have everything you need but will take me a day or two to round it all up.

Re: WTB Short Water Pump Conversion Parts

I have the upper and lower alternator bracket

I have the lower 2 pc pulley for the crank

I have a 2 groove water pump pulley. you only need one of the grooves the other would be for AC. I thought I had a single groove but can't find it.

Everything fits in a medium flat rate $85 shipped

Depending on how much you want to spend, and not to step on Richard's toes, I have purchased some pulleys from this guy on his eBay store. Never had a problem either. http://stores.ebay.com/hotrodpartsclearance/

Re: WTB Short Water Pump Conversion Parts

Thanks much for the pics Richard. Yes, I believe I'll take those, but just to check, can anybody confirm that the holes in the front of this head are the ones needed to mount the alternator bracket?

It sure will be nice to get rid of the "wonky" alternator bracket that mounts via the exhaust manifold bolts!

Re: WTB Short Water Pump Conversion Parts

You going to need the "short water pump" style power steering pump brackets also.

Re: WTB Short Water Pump Conversion Parts

This is the front of the motor that it was taken from. Don't mind the mud dobbers in the screw holes.
I will pm my info in case you want it.

thanks
Richard

Yes you have the right holes, use the top 2 below the valve cover. For the power steering you will need to clean out the holes with a worn tap, use a worn one so you don't change the size of the threads....or a thread chaser, you can get those at harbor freight.

Saxarts engine appears to not have the 2 tapped 3/8" holes alongside the timing cover for the SWP power steering pump to bolt up to. Just an observation. I don't think any of the long waterpump power steering pumps use those holes.

HOLD THE PRESSES!!!!

Funny... I thought to check for the alt-bracket holes, but never thought to look for the actual Power Steering bracket holes!

So, just to make sure I'm understanding this correctly, it looks like this block will ONLY accept a long water-pump power steering set up? Yikes, so glad you chimed in with this info!

It's situations like this that make this forum SO valuable. If any one else has thoughts about my set up, it would be greatly appreciated. Just to review, I'm adding Power Steering to a 1970 LB with the 350 SBC and just need to know what parts to look for.

Ugh... I suppose.. Not really something I'd like to do on a "running" engine.

Part of me wonders if I should maybe just buy a "long water pump power steering" set up and be done with it.

Re: WTB Short Water Pump Conversion Parts

I wouldn't like to drill and tap either but cast iron does drill and tap easy. Much better than putting long water pump stuff on, I hate that long water pump stuff on these trucks

Re: WTB Short Water Pump Conversion Parts

Thanks for the thoughts guys, I do appreciate it. I put a post on the main 67-72 forum so that we don't continue to muddy up the classifieds with tech info. Feel free to chime in:

Hopefully I can get this figured out soon and have Richard send me these parts!
