That would work but I think it would be a lot of work !! Why not drill the main leaf and the next one and re stack the rest of the leafs !! When you put large tires in the wheel well it will fill up the opening and yes the axle is one and a quarter inches too far forward. There are many ways to perform this surgery all in the name of HOT RODDING, go for it !!! While your at it why not change the axle to a Monte Carlo-Reagle or a wider one like a mid 70's Camaro, and don't forget to lengethen the drive shaft !!!
