72 Sierra Grande

Morning Can anyone tell me what the white chock #,s mean on the fire wall in the center where it bows in ,or transmission tunnel mine 72 has 196 written? THANKS

1 = 1st shift of the day
96 = number of truck built that shift.

I really don't know what it means. My 64 impala SS has chalk marks on the firewall too. I have no clue...
