How to ID a '67 missing the glove box decal and VIN tag

The guy I purchased my truck from had already started working on it and removed the VIN tag from the door jamb for paint work. He handed me the title and VIN plate upon purchase. While I have no reason to think the VIN plate isn't the one for this truck I would like to verify. No glovebox build sheet either. Is the VIN # stamped somewhere else on the frame or cab? Is the truck model build # stamped or chalked somewhere? Lastly does someone sell the correct VIN plate rivets to reinstall the plate?

Thanks,
Steve weim55 Colorado

Usually stamped on top of the frame up by the steering box. It is against board rules here to sell or even discuss the vin rivets because of the possible legal issues....

I checked for the VIN # stamped on the frame by the steering box as you stated. It is there and it does match my VIN plate and title. Thank you for the information!

Re: How to ID a '67 missing the glove box decal and VIN tag

If you want to ID this cab as a '67, and not a later one swapped on, there are differences. First, does it have a small back window? The dash has a smaller ignition switch bezel/hole and same as lighter. The original '67 wing vent latches are different as well, if doors are original.

The specifics that you pointed out are all there as they should be. Cab mounts look OEM and untouched. Confident the cab and frame are original the correct to the VIN and title.

Thanks for the reply,
