Experience with lowering springs??

I just purchased a '67 short box half ton with coils @ all corners. Someone cut or torched all 4 springs to do a quickie lowering. I prefer a more original-stock ride height. Years ago I installed new replacement springs in a '71 C10 w/coils and the ride height was much too high. Higher than even a factory new truck. I don't want that! A couple a inches lower than stock, say 2 inches in the front, 2 2-3 inches in the rear would be fine I think. The goal would be to have the measured distance between the outline of the tire and the fender outline-radius in the rear to match 180 degrees. Anyone have experience or suggestions with this??

Thanks,

Steve weim55 Colorado

Re: Experience with lowering springs??

I went 3/3 for springs with a 1" block in the rear from CPP that makes it sit perfect for me.

I also have the complete set of stock (but old and "settled") that I pulled off my 70 truck that would probably be close to what you want.

Thanks, for the info. Would you have a pic from the side of how your truck sits now with the CPP springs?

Here you go. As close to a "side" shot as I could get on this computer.

Re: Experience with lowering springs??

The rear looks like it would be perfect for me without the blocks. Your front is just the 3" drop springs as the only mod?

Thanks, Steve

Stock front springs with one coil cut and 4" CPP rear lowering springs. Tires are 275/60/15s on all 4 corners.

Re: Experience with lowering springs??

Excellent SoCo, thanks for the before after pics! Nice truck! Starting to think 3" drop rear springs w/2" drop spindles. Would center the rear tire radius with a slight rake to the front. Anyone with drop spindles pic?
