Everywhere I look shows it with missing codes or unrecognized ones. My guess is since it was the first year of the blazer they made have had a make up VIN code to cover them. Heck that's as good as guess I can come up with. B= Blazer????

Also wonder why it shows the model with one ID and the first part of the VIn with something else?

Where is CPNE and the other stats gurus

Check it out! You got it! Thanks Jeff! Anyway thats my new glovebox door! When the blazer is on the DAS truck then I'll say it's mine...........and in the meantime, I'm gonna print out your page so the RMV, which is what they call the registry, in the Commonwealth of Massachusetes, won't give me a hard time.

Jeff you should sell Chevy parts, 50% off would be sweet!

Thanks again!

Something that has me puzzled is that all the VIN decoders say that a 72 4x4 should start w/ KE, but mine starts with CKE. Anyone know what the extra C is for?

For some reason, a lot of the 72s got an extra C prepended to the vin. I have seen several 72 trucks with the vin starting CC. I have not seen a 72 4x4 to check its Vin...

Sometimes ya just gotta sit back and let the rookies take a swing.

Oh by the way, on those 72 vins:

The first letter indicates the make: C for Chevrolet, T for GMC. The 2nd letter is the chassis type: C for two wheel drive, K for four wheel drive.

72 was the year they started this coding scheme.

My '69's VIN is BKE as well. Throws the VIN decoders off, but you can tell its for Blazer. Jeff.
