Paint stripe pinstripe location and measurements

I was asked to post this for a fellow member. This is off a 71 GMC. I'll start with the front end measurements and will post the rear position another day when I can get out in the daylight again.

Our specimen to examine, an unmolested original 71 K2500 GMC

Line width and spacing as measured on front fender. It is constant along the length of the truck.

Distance from the edge of the fender near the point at which the curve ends.

Here is where the curve ends

Distance from eyebrow trim on the GMC. Chevy may be different?

Re: Paint stripe pinstripe location and measurements

Continuing from the front to rear....

Line stops short of all panel ends. Here is the fender/door union

Closer view of fender to door interface above

Door to cab rear interface

Back of cab to box

Height from side light at rear of box

Distance it stops short of trucks back end

Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Paint stripe pinstripe location and measurements

I duplicated the originals that were on my truck by taking measurements and pics before sanding.....in my research these pinstripes were very inconsistant from truck to truck....I have yet to see two that are exactly the same. The location on the side of truck and the front spears vary from truck to truck...I believe these were painted by hand and thus the differences......

Sweet! I can't thank you enough for posting these for me. Especially like how you took the picture holding the tape measure. Thanks again!

Re: Paint stripe pinstripe location and measurements

Thanks for the pictures. Really needed the dimensions. I'm having my truck done and this was a feature I wanted replicated. Mine were a lot thinner than the ones on your truck. And I think mine was different at the spear. But very helpful and I'm very thankful for your effort.

If they are a lot different the quesion begs, do you have RPO code D89 on the SPID?
While not super consistent in their application the stripe width and spacing was standardized using the Beugler Pinstripe Tool to apply them just like the stripes on a 69 Camaro with Z21 or Z22. Remember they were only white or black and matched the tailgate leters "if painted".
