Fuel/brake line and headers
Just finished engine swap. Noticed I have about 3 inches from headers to my steel fuel line and 1 inch to the brake line.
Will this cause problems? thnx |

Re: Fuel/brake line and headers
I think I would reroute. That is a little close for the brake line or the fuel line .

Re: Fuel/brake line and headers
I had the same problem. I got some insulating tape and taped up the brake line in that area, Then as added protection I covered it with a heat resistant wire harness sleve. Hope it works, still working on the engine swap and have not started the new engine in the truck yet.

Re: Fuel/brake line and headers
Ceramic coat the headers. Reduce a lot of heat in the engine bay.

Re: Fuel/brake line and headers
Thanx. I guess I will use some heat reflecting material. Tough to reroute them without tearing up everything.
Ceramic a good idea, but don't really want to tear it apart again, and it's not cheap. |

Re: Fuel/brake line and headers
I'd header-wrap the area near the tubes and then put some reflective shielding on the tubes. Don't wrap the entire header, as noted, it's hard on them.
But I think you should consider taking the time to reroute, even though it sucks. From what I read many places design with a 5" minimum between exhaust and fuel, and you're talking about headers, not a tailpipe. Headers get hot.

Re: Fuel/brake line and headers
Wrap an old beer can around the lines but give a little breathing room. But get like a coors or haams can so it looks legit.
