Radiator Replacement 1971 C10 350 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Howdy folks,

I need a new radiator for my 1971 C10 with a Goodwrench 350. The one I currently have has a leak 3/4 the way up one of the side walls.

I'd like to keep it reasonably priced. I know my local O'Reilly's stocks Murray brand for just under $200. I'd like to stay in the price range but wonder if there is something higher quality I should be considering?

Any recommendations on sources and brands?

I bought this one 2 weeks ago from Rockauto. It is a 4 core brass/copper all metal radiator and it was $128 before shipping.

"VISTA-PRO 433369" {#369} Ready-Rad; Mounting:
W/ 28-3/8" WIDE CORE; W/AC; W/MAX COOLING

I also had to buy the 4 core radiator supports by Goodmark through Rockauto. Then I have to cut the rubber bushing down and had to cut the bottom lip on my radiator shoud. Other than that it fits fine and it's all metal (sides and core).

These have plastic side tanks.

Probably the same one as O'Reilly's. I bought a all metal (same# but HD version) from O'Reily AP last year. It was pricey though.

Vista-Pro 433369 is copper and brass. Summit Racing use to sale it and Summit had a better description of it. Here's the link to the info.

Just looked those up. They are a good looking radiator. What are you guys using for a fan shroud with these? Will the original fan shroud bolt up?

On a side note, should I ever decide to upgrade to a BB, would this radiator still work for those engines as well?

I've been running this radiator with A/C in front of a ZZ4 350 for the past couple of years and now have over 10,000 miles on it with out any issues. It's a direct drop in. It's also a 2 core which actually cools better that a 3 or 4 core. I know it's counter intuitive. Here's some light reading on cooling.

Hi Guys, just unpacking the CC369 and I am not noticing the transmission cooler on the front like my old radiator had, although Champion says it has one. Am I missing something? Is the transmission cooler configuration different in these?

I just put a CC369 in my 72 C20,, the trans cooler is in the same place as stock ,, right side , below the filler neck .

Got it. I didn't realize that this didn't have an external transmission cooler. Don't externals have more capacity? Anyone had problems with the cc369 when hauling etc?

I've been having problems with overheating in my 72 K10 w/350. Just driving on slower, back roads, I'm fine, but if I go on the Interstate, or roads where I'm traveling 60+ mph for an extended time, the temp will hit the 250 mark.

Currently I have a stock 2 core, which came out of a 70 C-10 w/350 and was hoping to get a little more input on that 3-row Champion CC369. Will it drop right in, and stock rad hold downs will bolt right up still? I'd go 4-row, but then I'd need to track down the 4 row hold downs

I've been running this in my 72 GMC with a ZZ4 Tuned Port for over 10k mile in good old "HOT" West Texas with the A/C running with ZERO issues.

This looks like a heck of a deal.
I bought just the radiator for my 71 over a year ago from these guy's and it's a great radiator.
I had dual fans already.

I may order this one for the ramp truck though.

Hey guys I have a 1969 c20 with a v8 and air conditioning. Im trying to figure out the best replacement radiator for it. Copper/brass or aluminum?

I had a cooling issue with my 67 camaro and followed everyone's advice , but ended up buy a aluminum radiator from engineering cooling products. It was day and night difference. Runs 160 all day now. My old radiator was gone through from a local shop but always ran hot in traffic but would cool back down on the open road. Should have never wasted the money redoing the factory radiator. When I get closer to firing up my 72 k10 I'm buying one from them. There out of Chicago and it's made there in house.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
