Oh, fire was discussed at great lengths.

Re: What a thousand bucks and an education looks like

Thanks for the kind words. I still haven't cut down the brackets because I am waiting to see if the foam compresses any but all-in-all I am pretty happy with how it looks.

Hey, at least you have a nice seat for the money. May be an extra cost but still better than coming up with junk for your money. Could woulda shoulda, oh well. C'est la vie. I bet you could make up the difference elsewhere on the truck later.

Maybe your purpose in life is to help all of us learn what not to do... Thanks!

Re: What a thousand bucks and an education looks like

Thanks again, everyone for the words of encouragement. I managed to get the brackets cut down today. Took 1.5" out of the front and back and re-welded everything back together. Came out great. Fits great and I couldn't be happier.

Any pics of your process of cutting the brackets? Also a pic of how it sits in there now? I never thought of doing that to mine. After having my seat done professionally, the drivers side foam is stiffer than the passengers so my head is dangerously close to the roof of the cab. This might be the ticket.

unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of the process. Basically cut 1.5 inches out of the part that bolts to the floor in the front and 1.5 inches out of the part that bolts to the seat in the back. Then laid a piece of two inch strap inside the part I cut and welded it all back together. The trick is to keep it all square. I had to slot the holes on drivers side to get it to bolt up but it all worked out. I also removed the stops so it is reclined as far back as it will go. I added a strip of rubber behind the seat so it doesn't rub against the cab. Finally, I had to cut the corners off my speaker boxes to get it all to fit behind the seat (they are hideous). It's a tight fit but it all fits.
