I'm leaning aftermarket too. The way I can tell is usually the background behind the words. The aftermarket ones usually look more like a weird camouflage than woodgrain.

The 72 Cheyenne super emblem has scrolling around it. 71 does not

I believe that is a part made by Trim Parts. They use that CMD logo on letters for hoods and the rear chrome letters on tailgates. They are licensed gm restoration parts. Good quality
