Re: Exhaust

Im at about the same stage with similar components. Im interested to see what others have to say on the topic as well.

I was leaning toward some type of x or h crossover, Borla mufflers, and dumping right before the rear axle or out the side of the box. And Ive been toying with the idea of cutouts.

Re: Exhaust

Sprint 9 what size exhaust would you run, and have you researched borla mufflers or heard them on a Ls?
I'm still at frame stage on my build but I would like the tail pipes going to the very back
If it will work.

Re: Exhaust

I like H-pipes and magnaflows , borlas are nice also 2 1/2 inch pipe should be good , unless you are 450 hp plus , then you want dual 3 inch

Re: Exhaust

Here's a good calculator: http://bit.ly/2kOH3SG. Required size is smaller than you might think - all those rice burners with their four-inch exhausts are wasting money. As for mufflers, at realistic power levels, it doesn't much matter which mufflers you choose: http://bit.ly/2lLQi4j, so use the ones you think sound best.

Re: Exhaust

I want something with a nice rumble at idle and a bit of a bark when you get on the throttle, not ear ringing loud like a glass pack.

Re: Exhaust

I like spintech mufflers. They have a range of series for varying loudness. The X pipe is supposed to work better to help exhaust exit your engine vs an h-pipe. Something about alternating pulses from left to right.

Here's a sound clip of my 402 with spintech 3000s and an x pipe (3 inch). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=An3NhSvO9-M

Exhaust: 3" exhaust with x-pipe, Spintech 3000 mufflers, Hooker ceramic coated headers. Best 1/4 mile time: TBD.

I run spintechs as well on my 5.3. Pretty tame at idle, but comes to life at full throttle.
