Rear cab mounts, slip-on vs OEM

Hey guys, just cutting my truck apart, no big deal :P was wondering what's up with the slip-on rear cab mounts? Are the OEM mounts difficult to install? Was ordering some more panels that I'm finding rotted as I go, and found I needed LH and RH kick panels and Rear floor sides. I have the Slip On rear cab mounts that seem much to big, hang below cab about 2" when seated flush with the cab floor. Thanks for the help! (truck is a '63 C10). Pics below are for fun showing this weeks progress. Was just driving it two weeks ago when I decided to ruin it haha

Re: Rear cab mounts, slip-on vs OEM

slip on cab mounts rust away in a couple years. they basically trap moisture in between the old mount and the new.

the oem ones are more difficult since you need to remove the old one and weld the new one in. there is fitment involved since they are never the right length. you need to bend angles in the ears for bolting to the rocker side, and bend angles to weld to the front/back support.

good luck. not too bad of a job. remove the doors and brace the door opening to keep dimensions and stop frame racking when unbolted.

Is it hard to work on the truck with it on the ceiling? Just could not resist with the pic upside down.
