63 C10 wiring harness.
Hey y'all, have a 63 C10 that needs a new harness, looking for a good source, have seen them in LMC truck, just looking for opinions. Currently has a regulator want to convert to alternator as well but have never done it.

Re: 63 C10 wiring harness.
What I use is the American auto wire classic update harness. I have one in my 65 and another one on the shelf for my Suburban. Will give you plenty of room to ad stuff to the truck, gets rid of the amp gauge and allows for a one wire alternator. It is a good bit of work to put one in but if you take your time and follow the instructions it really is a good setup.

Re: 63 C10 wiring harness.
I also installed the American Auto Wire Update kit in my 65. I completed the install in one day, and that was my first time ever installing a complete wiring harness in a vehicle.

Re: 63 C10 wiring harness.
This is X3 votes for Amercian Autowire.
I did the Classic Upgrade kit also, but I added a LOT of modern/electric/custom features. You may be looking for a stock replacement, so check out their stock replacement kit vs LMC too. The stock replacement may go quicker, but the Classic Upgrade takes a lot of time and thought, especially if you have a few custom/modern touches, and to do correctly and solder all your crimps. On the alternator, by all means go with a modern 10SI or 12SI with internal regulator, more amps, and better cooling. I personally recommend the 3 wire hookup for remote sensing, etc. 1 wire alternators are great for tractors. Google MAD Electric for info, and read the FAQs at American Autowire.

Re: 63 C10 wiring harness.
what do you guys do with the old harnesses?
I'm searching for just the connector plugs to replace old cracked ones. Firewall plugs, headlight plugs, temp indicator plug, heater resistor, heater switch, etc |

Re: 63 C10 wiring harness.
A good bit of the harness on my truck was not very good. The 50 years had taken a toll on the plastic. So they went into a box of junk truck wire. One thing that you could do is become a premium member and post a want ad in the for sale section. Lots of folks here with loads of parts and I am sure you can find what you need.

Re: 63 C10 wiring harness.
American Autowire all the way! You get a little more with them than with Painless (new key switch, headlight and dimmer switches too). They include all of the socket ends as well. But the part I like the most about their kit...all of the wires are labelled right on the wire for the entire length of the wires! And their tech support is outstanding as well, should you need it!
