Using the inline throttle linkage on 350 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I read in another post that it's possible to modify the inline 6 throttle linkage to be used on my 350. I am running a plain ol rochester Q jet on it too. Can antone shed some light on this for me? I have the throttle cable type, no metal bar linkage bolted to the firewall on mine

I think that applies to the 67-70 rod style linkage as its a simple matter of a longer rod

for the i6 to v8 linkage conversion.

I don't think the 71/72 cable style falls into this degree of simplicity. If it were me, I'd go and get the correct cable from GM, but then again, you do have that engine in the "wrong" location so it may not be that cut and dry.

You also need a bracket on your carb to attach the cable style linkage to, which supports it in a fixed position.

One for a 71/72 4x4 should work for you, but you still need that bracket by the carb.

Thats the one that mounts behind the carb on the intake? I have that bracket already Jeff

The inline throttle cable hooks right up to the carb already and the mount will bolt right up but the cable is to long. Probably beacuse I put the engine in the wrong place eh bud

Here is a pic of the bracket I'm referring to. A 4x4 throtlle linkage should be about right for ya.

I went through this. If you have the 350 in the six cylinder position then you need the 4X4 cable. Even then it seems too long, but it will work
