Does anyone sell the new plugs and connectors that are under the hood? I am looking for the connector/plug that connects to the firewall. (Outside of the fuse block.) If not, how do you get the old blade type connector out so that you can reuse it with new wire? I want to rebuild the connector to the HEI (old white, new red), brake booster (brown), starter (purple), and where ever else it goes to.

I think you can buy them from some of the vendors on the board.

just take a small pair of needle-nose pliers and pull they'll come right out

Should I pull them out the front side, or out the back? I don't want to damage the plastic plug, I want to reuse it if I can't find new ones.

i pulled mine out where the wires go in then when i installed new connectors i just used a dab of black silicone to make them weather tight

if memory serves, (and it seldom does),
this is what the terminals in the fuse block look like.
just squeeze at the arrows, and pul it out by the
wire.

Squeeze at the upper point-this is what locks it in the block-and pull on the wire. At parts store ask for male spades.

Beautimus, your memory serves you well this time, 'cause that's exactly what they look like. They are still available. Bought several at the local Napa about a year ago. Be sure to "tin" your wires with some solder before you crimp the new spades on. They aren't the typical spade connector you will find in the electrical displays though, so take one of the old ones with you.

Did that awhile back , you can get connectors at Napa. Use small screw driver and collappse the tang on to of clip and pull. clean the black goo off might help getting them out. I Have part #s and picture I will post . I rewired truck for HEI and to get rid of external regulator and I just bought those clips from NAPA worked great.

THey pull out fron teh wire side ther is a littlnotch i think to reach in and depress tang. the gunk on inside is hard brown like sap. scrape that off an d do one wire at a time ,remember where it came out of.

Here is the info I got. Part #s are good. - I figured I would post this as a new thread because I'm sure that more people would be interested than just the ones looking at the HEI hookup thread. In an effort to make your truck look clean I suggest that wires that need to pass through the firewall be routed via the bulkhead connector. There is typically plenty of room on the block to add additional pass through wires. You will need to purchase TYPE 56 connectors from somewhere. I found mine at NAPA. The part numbers are 725145 and 725147. I don't remember which is female and which is male but you'll need equal numbers of each type if doing the bulkhead connector pass through thing. These connectors are also used in a majority of all of the connectors in the truck. Each has a tab that snaps out and holds the connector in the plastic part of the connectors. Everyone should have spares laying around for when you need them. The cost was .49 and .29 cents a piece. You won't regret having spares around. NAPA is never open when I really need to get the connectors. Forget AutoZone and Advanced Auto, I had no luck finding them there. At NAPA they had to let me look through their book to show them what I wanted. They had them in stock but not out for display.

Yes Blue Beard, I thought they are cool, I hate using the common ones you find at the auto & hardware store, every other time I crimp them the wire slips out after checking it, regards Doug

NAPA had them alright. Picked up six of them today. Stopped by a friends place and picked up a crimper that crimps them like original. Will replace all the wires in that connector this evening.
