front end question
I was driving my truck today and noticed it wanders left and right as I drive, just had front end lines up and it has new ball joints any ideas?

Could be a loose steering box or loose tie rod ends. Or could be an incorrectly installed/loose ball joint.
Also, check the track-bar on the back axle. Are the bushings OK there?

Did you have the centerlink off? We've had a number of cases of people putting them back on flipped backwards and they'll wander and pull left-right.

Could be lack of proper toe-in. I shoot for 3/16". Alignment shops don't necessarily know how to set toe on an older vehicle, in my experience. Also I've noticed drastic differences between different tires as far as the way they steer.

I got a used power steering box i think when I was setting it up, it could be that , never did anything with the rear end but lower it 4 " and new shocks.
I'll have to check and see what I replaced when I lower it in the front. |

A proper alignment cannot be performed if any parts are loose / worn. All components should be checked by the alignment tech before aligning. Also, the last step in an alignment is to test drive the vehicle to confirm steering wheel is centered & the truck doesn't drift / pull / wander.
I would politely talk with the shop that performed the alignment, explain the issues & ask if they could check it again. If this is a dead end, find a dedicated alignment shop (that's all they do) & ask the the senior tech to work on it. |
