72 Jimmy Dana 44 - Ball Joints

First, made it through the front disk brake job. New rotors, calipers, bearings, rear seal, etc. I had a great time (seriously); it was interesting to learn how the locking works.

While doing the work, I realized the lower ball joint is bad. My plan is to replace top and bottom on both sides.

Does someone here have or know the location of a good write up on the procedure? pictures would be great.

From pinging around the WWW, it appears you don't need to go into the differential.

Looking for some guidance.

Re: 72 Jimmy Dana 44 - Ball Joints

I can't find them in my history, but I looked up videos on YouTube. Didn't find any for a 1st gen, but I saw a few for square bodies, and up to like 78 they used the same front axle. It helped me a lot.

Re: 72 Jimmy Dana 44 - Ball Joints

Thanks for the info. I saw those videos and thought the procedure might be the same or VERY similar. I will dive in soon under that premise. It will be a few weeks - I found some more pressing issues to deal with (shocker). I plan to spend the weekend investigating then prioritizing. Thanks again
