The last tank of fuel that I just burned in my Duramax/Allison gave me 18.6 mpg. That is in Seattle traffic. Not bad for a crew cab 3/4 ton 4x4!

I get about 14 in town but I almost always pull a small enclosed trailer! I do love the duramax and I can smoke my buddy that has the 496!
Caterpillar did not design anything on the Dmax. The fuel system is designed and built by Bosch.

Tell ya what I pull a 35' gooseneck trailer with my 2500HD Duramax/Allison and with a load just blowing by traffic through the hills down south, there is no way in Hell a gas motor could do that, even pulling my trailer empty. The trailer weighs in at 7860Lbs. so it is no light trailer, it has a 22,000#GVW

we purchased an '01 and '02 Chevy 3500 with the Dmax/allison combo, new, to pull car trailers for our business. The trailers are 48 ft long, weigh 7000#, and carry 3 vehicles. We have carried 3 suburban 4x4s on them several times and they pull great. Get 10 mpg on average, loaded or empty. Both trucks have over 150k miles on them now.
