Hard top glass question

Does anyone know if it's possible to have safety glass cut? I have both single and a double wall tops in great shape but all the glass is scratched to some degree. I've tried eastwoods glass polishing kit, it works on the mild scratches but what a pain in the ass. Anyway, the hardtop glass is flat so I figure it can be made or cut. Maybe someone has done it?

Most any glass installer can cut it for you...I just had a new back glass cut for my top for $140

You have two choices - you can have flat laminated glass cut by any glass shop, or you can have the glass shop make a template and send it out for tempered glass.

Yes, flat laminated glass is safety glass. It has two layers of flat glass with a polybutyrate layer sandwiched between them. When the glass is broken the plastic layer holds it together. Windshields are made of laminated glass.

Tempered glass is heat treated to give it internal tension, which makes its surface harder. It also causes it to shatter into small pieces when broken. Most factory side and back glass is tempered glass.

Both are considered automotive safety glass.
