Bed w/tool box door on CL

Only seen a couple of these. He's asking $200 for the bed, thought I'd post it for anyone that might be interested

Re: Bed w/tool box door on CL

I can see that's a long bed, so assuming I can find a truck, I'd look for one of these to stow away tools!

This is actually the first time I've seen something like this for a square body.

Re: Bed w/tool box door on CL

Cool, I had one on my '70 C10 and there are no aftermarket parts available for these things since they are so rare.

Re: Bed w/tool box door on CL

The old man had an '82 with the 6.2 diesel and it had this storage box. He bought the truck used around '90 but I always suspected it wasn't the original bed on it.

Re: Bed w/tool box door on CL

I saw one of these at a local junkyard but the only thing that was left was the inside plastic bucket.. the truck had completely rotted. I thought it was cool and didn't know any squares had this.

Re: Bed w/tool box door on CL

Thankyou for reminding me about this.. not that I would cut a hole in my bedside before paint but they are pretty neat! Here's what a little bit of research found.

I don't take credit for finding these originally as I just found them on an older thread, interesting nonetheless!

EDIT: I also found the photos I took from a private junkyard.. the toolbox was LONG gone.

Re: Bed w/tool box door on CL

How much space is there for tools and such?

Re: Bed w/tool box door on CL

I had one on my 73 C20. When I got it for $650 in 1981 the box was badly rusted and the previous owner and used a couple of large screws to keep it shut. It made a great salt catcher in the rust belt.
