Disc brakes??????????'s
I am thinking about adding disc brakes to the front of the ramp truck.
Does anybody know if a later model truck disc brake system will work? I ran across this on another forum and it's got me thinking! Quote:

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. |

Re: Disc brakes??????????'s
From what I have found on this site, 71-87 C-20/30 would work. Most recommend swapping out the entire front cross member. I wouldn't mix and match brakes. I would use the master cylinder, proportioning valve that match the donor vehicle.

Re: Disc brakes??????????'s
Andy, That swap is just like the 1/2 ton stuff that has been swapped a ton of times from people coast to coast. It is just heavier trucks and heavier part but the idea is still the same. 73- 87 and up to 91 on some R and V series trucks [they didn't change body styles on the crew cab one ton and some dually trucks until 91.

Re: Disc brakes??????????'s
After driving the Ramp truck today to Greenville SC I think the disc brakes are going to have to happen and soon!
I spent all afternoon Thursday and all day Friday on the drums but it's just not stopping like it should. The wheel cylinders are both leaking now on the front. I may have to fix the wheel cylinders for now but disc brakes are going on it at some point. Question for anyone who knows. Has anybody tried late model stuff on one of these. I'm talking 2000 model stuff?
