GMC Tailgate at Junkyard - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I was surprised recently when I turned a corner at the junkyard and saw this tailgate sitting on the ground. The bed had already been removed. Someone had already got all the cool stuff like the hood emblem. A lot was gone, but I believe it was a 1986 year truck. The tailgate has a major smash on the top but still has good color. I was not surprised when I looked closer and saw the truck had a history from the state of Washington.

even 15 years ago i never seen pick up tailgates in the junkyard. same thing with the k5 blazers, never found a rear glass or rear window regulator at the junkyard. i did find a decent tailgate being thrown out by a body shop like 8 years ago. only thing wrong was small amount of rust where the access panel bolted down on. i still have it sitting around

I can't remember the years but wrangler on it was a trim level that was very short lived.

I'd like to run up on a 73-74 GMC gate in the junk yard.

I know what you mean. If it had been a 73-74 GMC gate I would have dragged it home even with a big ding!!
