Post 73 and up front susp. on a 72?

Was talking to a friend last week and he said that he rememberd guys in his hometown using complete front suspensions from 73 and up cheys in their 67-72 trucks. Told me everything bolted right up if you used everything from the other truck. This also allowed you to run control arms with rubber bushings (or eurathane) instead of the metal screw in type. Maybe gives a better ride. Anyone heard this or done it? Thinking about trying it if it will work. Tons of old 73 up trucks around here.

yeap, do it, it works fine, frames all are the same 68-up(68-up because of steering box mounting pad differences in '63-67)
This conversion is a direct bolt on,
the worst thing you gotta worry about is completely rerouting the brake hard lines differently on the frame rails, and you also may have to slightly egg out a couple holes in the crossmember or frame rail to get it perfectly lined up,
I have done this once so far, and am going to again on two more. And I like it alot better than swapping over spindles and arms, and the 73 up hoses pass right through frame rails, you dont have to worry about the stupid little 71-72 hose bracket tabs that you gotta fabricate or salveage off another truck. Holes are already there for the hoses ot pass through even. If oyu wanted to leave you crossmember for soem reason9couldnt pull engine to do this) then you can swap the 73-up arms onto the crossmember, they bolt on too.

happy swapping !
