71-72 accelerator pedal

i am looking to upgrade my accelerator pedal on my truck to a cable style. i am having no luck on getting a 71-72 pedal. i have found a couple 73+ pedals. anyone know how other years fit? any suggestions on where to find a 71-72 pedal? i know lokar sells one but i am not trying to spend that much and thats not the look i am going for.

any help would be great... here is what i am trying to do get my accelerator rod to hook up to my carb.

Re: 71-72 accelerator pedal

You can use your original pedal linkage very easily. This is on my 1965 Pickup with an Edelbrock carb on a 292 Inline 6 cyl motor. The bellcrank is the original one that mounted sideays on the block. I made up a plate to go across the bolts on the back of the carb and put a pivot bolt in it. Been using it for over 15 years and works great. Hope the pics give you enough detail.

I see you are also running a T5 trans. They work awsum behind the 6 cyl. With the cnc you could draw up something very easily and will look better than this. I like the K.I.S.S. theory and done that for years

Re: 71-72 accelerator pedal

GMdad looking at your set up it wont work for what i need. i need a pull system off the carb it looks like you have a push system. i just ordered a 73+ gas pedal it looks very similar to the 71-72 pedal. plan is to use 73+ pedal along with mr gasket cable. i will update with what i make work

Re: 71-72 accelerator pedal

Mine is a pull setup. The pedal lever goes back towards the firewall. Your carb is sitting the same as mine on the intake.
