Could I get your opinion? Looking at buying this truck.

Ok so I'm new to these trucks but not new to working on cars in general. I'm looking to pick something up that isn't perfect by any means. But something I can drive now and put some work into on the weekends to make nicer. Do yall mind sharing your opinion and what you think this is worth? It's a good ways away from me, so I want to go down and look at it as informed as I can be. Thank you.

Looking for a project? That one was somebody else's project, and several others projects before that. Virtually every aspect has been worked over in the past. You are inheriting all efforts, including failures. I personally would keep looking for a less molested example.

I have restored a lot worse. I would buy it if the price was right. Be sure and check for rust above the windshield inside and out. That might be a deal breaker but if it is solid there the rest of the rust is not too bad for that year truck. It needs to be back on the road.

If you can't weld and are not planning on learning how to weld I wold look for something better. With less rust.

He asked what it's worth. 1st big question- can you drive it home? The truck's been shot at and missed, and schit at and hit, for sure.
If it's a no runner, $950- a runner? $1200+ depending on how well it runs. California prices.

Re: Could I get your opinion? Looking at buying this truck.

In my opinion it isn't that bad. Granted it is going to need a good amount of work, but if it currently runs and drives, that is a plus. A less molested or unmolested truck is going to be difficult to find. At least it is in my area. In this area, that truck would likely sell for $500-$750. The seller may want more, but that is likely what it would sell for. But prices on these trucks vary quite a bit in different parts of the country.

The up to $1000 you put into it now will be inconsequential compared to what will go into it, and that is counting nothing for your time. Be sure you want to commit to it.

This is good counsel. I don't know about TN, but here in the midwest about all we have to pick from are trucks like this, or something north of $15-20k. It's certainly saveable, but it depends on how much work you want to do, and how nice you want it to be.

Re: Could I get your opinion? Looking at buying this truck.

This could be a great project for you, mine was/is way worse! I knew zero about real car work but have been learning over the last 2 years through this site, youtube and hot rod buddies. Don't be scared of it.
If it starts up when cold (be suspect of a pre-warmed up vehicle), idles smooth and will get you home, i'd pay up to 1000.
Non-running, project cars with standard parts aren't worth more than 500

That truck around my neck of the woods would probably be in the $2500 range. I wouldnt give that but the info your getting is on point imo.
