What is the easiest replacement rear end for a 49 3100 pickup to get the 3:55, with 6 lug. The truck is all original with a 4:11, torque tube and 3 on tree transmission and tall white walls.

I think the easiest would be to go to a 3.55 ring and pinion if all you are wanting to do is change the gear ratio.
