69 K-20 questions

ok, i just bough a 69 K-20

it does have a 14 bolt rear, and a dana 60 i belive because it looks diffrent than the 44 in my 71how do i tell what kind of transfer case it has?

and it has a granny 4 speed, and it seems like 4th gear is wrapped out at 45mph...is that 4.56 gears, or what was available??

its kinda odd to, it has no radio, no cigar lighter, no power brakes, no carpet, no aux. gauges, verry low option. it does have havy rear springs, and crazy looking lockouts though

i just want to know more about it

thanks,
zach

Adam has a 69 and he can answer some questions. As far as the dana60 does it only have 3 u-bolts total holding the axles to the springs and 2 studs in the pumpkin? If not it's either a dana 44 or a newer 10 bolt. Does it have disc up front?
As far as the RPMs what size tires? I have 4.10s and 33s w/ 4 speed and turn about 2800 rpm @ 65mph.
Having crazy lock outs would steer me away from saying it's a dana 60. Is it a big dial, the whole end rotates with selectro on it?

it says on the glovebox door its got "spicer" lockouts, and the decal also says dana on it. it actully does mont to the springs just like my 44 on the other truck. the lockouts are bigger, and 8 lug, but the actual part you turn is smaller than my 71

its got drum brakes, unfortunately...but it seems to stop good, for manual drums anyway.

With the drums it's a dana 44, with ti sounds like aftermarket hubs. I'll take a pic of my 70 and 71 hubs. Ones stock for 70 the other aftermarket selectro. The spicer will be like my 70s.

Lastly, here is a pic of the Rockwell that your truck should have, unless replaced with something else.

is the rear diff round in shape or is it shaped like the dana 44 pictured above? if its round, then you have the HO52...if it looks like the dana 44 above, then it is a dana 60 rearend.

also, GM didn't put dana 60's into trucks until 76 or 77 (unfortunately). so it is most likely that you have a dana 44 with closed knuckles and drum brakes.
