Look at the rivets on the tags. Those are NOT the original roset rivets from the factory. Someone changed tags.

Either a chopshop stolen truck at some point or last Title had issues so somebody put a clear Title/Vin plate on it, or the truck is a miss match of parts. Lots of mutt trucks out there unfortunately, and lots of guys converting or using C's for K's as the C bodies are typically in better condition.

Given your location (VA) and the need for 4x4s up there and how short of a time frame before a body is bad... 4x4 frame swaps happen all the time. The body probably went to crap and they found a nicer 2wd truck with a title and used that.

If the plant code in the VIN on the frame (Tarrytown) doesn't match the plant code in the VIN on the cab (Baltimore) - that's an instant fail, even before you get to the numbered sequential portion.

Those two should match without exception.

The OP, Carystone72, could run the frame numbers by his state auto bureaucracy [DMV, MVD, etc.] and check if it's a hot number. Or frame numbers plus the probable prefix K E 14 [0T xxxxxx].
Or, if it's already registered, he could shut up and ''fuggedaboudit'', and let sleeping bureaucrats lay.
Not my call.
