steering column

I just bought a 68 swb step side. the guy that had it put a (looks like mid 80s)steering column in it but it moves up down all around. It also has the pull bar type e brake. Is there some type of a clamp that clamps that besides the e brake bracket. Thanks in advance.

The column should be clamped in two places, at the floor and underneath the e-brake. You may have to put another column in it as the later model may not bolt up without modifying.

Under the e brake bracket is a strap held in with 2 bolts that hold the column tight to the dash, out on the firewall is a plate bolted to the firewall with a rounded perch that a band clamp fits on to hold the column. Any 2" dia column will usually fit these trucks if they have no ignition switch in them with a little work.

If it is a late model column (with key and wiper switch) then a stock one probably won't work due to the larger diameter of the later column.
