Passenger door stuck

My passenger is now stuck. It seems to be stuck between lock and unlock. You cant pull up or push down on the door lock rod (thing that shows if the door is locked). What way should go about fixing it?

Try having another person push hard on the outside of the door while you unlock it with the inside lock button. Before you try that roll the window down and spray some penetrating oil down inside the door at the back of the glass. If you use a good flashlight you can look down inside the door and see the door lock and latch mechanism. If that doesn't work try pushing or pulling on the inside door handle a little while you push/pull the lock button up/down. Let us know if any of that works.

Re: Passenger door stuck

Well pulling on the inside door handle and pushing the outside handle worked. Now I have to get the tool to remove the door and window handle to see whats causing it. At least I can open it. Thanks for the help.

Re: Passenger door stuck

I was going to suggest what has worked for me in this same situation: with window down, use key in lock while applying corresponding pressure ( up or down ) to the lock button.

Re: Passenger door stuck

Locking the door is what caused the problem, so I give that a try.

If you don't have the tool to remove the clips on the handles you can just drag a shop towel behind the handle and the cloth will catch the handle clip and pop off , good trick when you find yourself needing a handle off in a junk yard or late night project in the garage without the clip tool , i've seen guys do it with a sock or even the bottom edge of a t-shirt works .

Glad you got it open. Spray the latch on the back edge of the door and stick the nozzle inside the key hole and spray that too. (both doors)

Re: Passenger door stuck

Fixed it. Turns out the tab that comes off the lock was under where it needed to be. Causing it to not let the door unlock. Also are the doors suppose to have a driftnet key then the ignition? As mine are the same. I thought they should be driftnet.

All '67-'72 Chevy and GMC trucks came from the factory with the ignition and doors keyed the same....
