Not my cup of tea, but check out the price!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1948-Chevrol...1YyD0R&vxp=mtr

Not mine, and definitely not my style, but very customized. I'm just trying to understand who would pay that much for a truck.

Re: Not my cup of tea, but check out the price!

I agree - not what I would want but there is some world class work into it. there are other things I could do with that kind of cash, but if the owner can sell it for that, great.

Re: Not my cup of tea, but check out the price!

That is a crazy build. If it was built by a well known builder, my guess is they could sell it for that. The unfortunate thing is the builder probably spent close to, if not more than that to build it and is probably just hoping to get at least a significant portion of the money back.

Re: Not my cup of tea, but check out the price!

You have to remember that there are folks out there that aren't like us trying to put together a project, while also having to maintain a house/family.... i.e. budget!

Make's me think of the ICON builds. The owner has admitted his clients are rockstars/actors that have that kind of disposable income and are willing to pay that opportunity cost.

That's the great thing about opportunity costs, just be cause its 10x more than say a truck that say you or I are trying to build, doesn't mean that its 10x better truck....but it might be in someone else's eyes.

But it is a well made truck at the end of the day.

Re: Not my cup of tea, but check out the price!

There's a lot of things on this truck I REALLY like. Unfortunately, there's a lot more I really DON'T like.

But I can truly appreciate the vision it took to conceive it and the talent to carry it off so nicely. I'd admire it at a show for someone else to own it.

Re: Not my cup of tea, but check out the price!

The Truck is Featured in The June Issue of Classic Trucks. I'm sure that the owner has a bunch of money in it and I don't think it is for sale for the Average member of our Forum. While I like to look at the work of other people I enjoy the work I do on mine More. I know I'll Never have a Trophy Truck or a Truck that will stop traffic at a show. But the Smiles per Mile and Nods with a wave makes me Feel Good.

I appreciate the craftsmanship, and the cost...however for that I would like to see some actual custom wheels!

For that amount I could build 3 or 4 vehicles I'd be REAL happy with.

Re: Not my cup of tea, but check out the price!

those who pay a shop big money to build a ride need to get big money out of them
i know a guy who spent $400,000 to build his ride only to sell it 3 years later for $185,000
i'd be divorced and penniless if i did that

If money was of no concern, there are many other ADs I would rather own. I wouldn't enjoy driving it anywhere. I like the seat, the rest, not so much.

I have saw a town for sale on ebay a number of years ago. It was out in death valley (I think). As for the truck, it's beautiful and lots of custom work. Well out of my price range. I would think Barret Jackson would be a good place to try and get that price tag.

Simply beautiful build. The craftmenship is excellent. This is not your daily driver for sure and I believe the owner wants a return on all his parts and labor. I wonder if the owner will throw in the trailer?

This truck is nice but you really need to consider that other car he has for sale is the real catch to have.

inexpensive to advertise there and it reaches world wide.

I thought I had seen the truck at the Portland Roadster show in the past but can't find a photo in any of my albums.

The gent who built it (and owns it) obviously is a highly skilled craftsman and the work is supurb even if not to everyone's taste. It's one you study and look for those small detail items that get your brain working on your own build or solve an issue on your own build.

The price is either a fishing expedition or the "yes Dear I put my truck up for sale but no one wants to pay my price" thing. The more money than sense gotta have the cool stuff club seems to have a lot of members though. Walk into Kindig's shop and ask him to build one quite similar and it will run up over that price with the pieces it has on it and the hours that are in it real quick.
