Locating Fuse Panel Behind Seat 1950
I am installing a Speedway 21 wiring harness in my 1950 project and with my custom flat firewall I am having a hard time finding good looking real estate to mount the fuse panel under the dash.
I am thinking about installing it behind the passenger seat which is closer to the drop out battery. Other than having to extend some of the wires to the dash is there any down side that any of you can think of mounting it behind the seat? Have any of you done this and do you have any pictures?

Re: Locating Fuse Panel Behind Seat 1950
I absolutely see no reason why you can't mount the fuse panel behind your seat, I've mounted my battery there, but, will you be carpeting behind your seat? what I did with my flat firewall was to weld a plate with legs on it to the inside of the firewall and then bolted the fuse panel to it. this way i didn't have to drill holes. Just a thought.

Re: Locating Fuse Panel Behind Seat 1950
As long as you can get to it when you need to without taking the truck apart it doesn't matter where it goes. As you already figured it will take adding some length to several of the wires but outside of the expense of buying several rolls of different colored wire that isn't a big issue as long as you do a good job of making the connections.
I'm hell on wheels on keeping the color codes right because over the past 50 years I've followed behind so many individuals who didn't understand the need to color code the wiring and I ended up troubleshooting the wiring. I've got that problem on my 77 1 ton right now where I have to redo the turn signal, tail and clearance lights to get them right.
