Removing hood- 2 man job?

Gotta put new hinges on my '69 C10. That's a job that requires two people I assume. Anyone out there ever do it solo? I'd love to hear that story.

easier with 2people but not mandatory, i've used my engine hoist tied to the front of the hood to hold it steady have also done it with rope over a tree branch etc. you just have to be creative

I took mine off by myself but recruited someone to help me put it back on.

I took mine off by myself because I didn't want to wait for someone's help, Its not easy, but if you have long arms and are fairly strong, you can do it. Although if you have a paintjob that you don't want to scratch, I recommend 2 people.

Hey Jamis, I think we have matching scars. LOL
It was a windy day.

I threw a rope over my truss in my garage and tied it to the hood latch then the rest is cake.

I unbolted mine solo and picked it right up. They arent all that heavy and will rest on the hinges after you lay the hood back on most of the time. get a bolt started on one side and then the other side and its all gravy from there

I had my wife and one of her girl friends help me re-install mine! The more hands the better.

I did mine by myself, I was 14 at the time.

I just unbolted it, and lifted it off. No scars either!

I'm sure it would be 100% easier and quicker with two people.

Oh wait, I think I propped it in the up position with a 2x4 while I unbolted it, then just lifted it off. That way it didn't fall down when I was trying to unbolt it.

Thanks for all the input. I tried it myself. Propped up the hood front & back and did one side at a time. Worked fine accept for one little thing. The hinge on the passenger's side bumps up against the housing for the heater fan (?) on the firewall. I can't quite get the hinge to go back as far as I'd like without stopping against it. Anyone run in to that and have some kind of a fix?
