72 K20, swap out the 350 for a BB468, bolt right in?

Just wondering, I have a 468/450HP sitting on a stand in my garage waiting for a candidate. Found a 72 K20 with a 350/350 in it. I'd like to just shoe horn the BB in it, my question is...it that a straight forward swap or am I going to have distributor, header and other problems. Trying to do a bit of homework before I pull the trigger on the K20
Thanks

I'd like to put this in the K20, it has since been pulled out of the 76 1 ton after only 5000 miles or so. I sold the 76 1 ton to my son but the engine stayed with me

Please excuse the hokey voice

It's a tight fit for sure. From past experiences I believe you will have to "modify" the firewall for an HEI and valve cover clearance. If you can find a 400/205 from an 80's truck the transmission is about 2" longer and will allow you to move the motor forward, but keep the transfer case in the original location. Let's see pictures

If you have all new cab mounts and stock valve covers, it's "should" fit. It will be tight though.

If you run small cap dizzy it will be fine, but you should be able to squeeze a big HEI cap in there as well.

Can't comment on the headers as I don't know what headers you are trying to run.

I say go for it.

Really you just need the TH400 and the right adapter and maybe a new input shaft for your T-case to make it work.

And machine work to the 205 housing. The input bearing for a 400 205 is bigger than the th350 and sm465.(late 80s 465 may be the same as a 400 I can't remember)

Here's a pic of the 205 you need it's off a 400 turbo but the 85-91 square body sm465 used the same 205 I've got 3 of these

Thanks Jeff I was pretty sure the late 465 cases were the same.
