Neat post. Wind tunnel tests? I can hear the engineer now. "Yep it stops the wind really well" There may have been tests but I'm not sure if it was to make it aerodynamic.

Yes it is; for every new part (and subcomponent). There's usually about 1000 to 2000 new parts for a mid cycle enhancement, and closer to 7000 - 10,000 for a ground up.

Each one requires a "Plan for every part"! (Design, release, validation, sourcing, tooling, delivery logistics and dunnage, service, etc).

I wonder how many hours of my life would have been saved if GM had used this hood/fender/cowl design...

I would have loved this change!

I also like what appears to be a crash portion in the lower fenders.
