Sigh....truck is broke.
Well, my truck will be parked until sometime in May. Stripped out a tie rod end, so it is pretty much a deathtrap to drive. Had to bum a ride back to college, and left the truck at home parked in the yard.
Strange thing is last weekend i took it to Tulsa, OK to see a friend (about a 4-hr drive), and drove back through the senic northeren Arkansas Ozarks (about 6-hrs) and didn't have a single problem with it. But the day after i got home i noticed the steering changed alot, got out and sure enough the tie rod end was about to pull out of the adjustment sleeve. I'm guessing driving on those curvy roads at slightly high speeds was rather harsh on the tie rod end. Thankfully it came out after i got home though and not on the side of the road. Since the truck is at home and i'm not, so i can't fix it, i was too busy to fix it last week (had to work), and neither of my parents know much about vehicles at all so i don't want them to have it towed to some place i don't trust to have it fixed. Anyway, no real point to the post. Just letting everyone know i'm back on the board after one busy week of being off, and vent on my truck that i love and hate, lol

on your way to tulsa did you pass through Kansas, Oklahoma? I know how you feel. I pulled my 63 into the shop saturday. I doubt if it will be able to leave until somtime in mid-summer. Luckily i have the 85 to get me to college.

Actually, yes i did pass through, or more around, Kansas, OK on the way back on Tuesday....was driving on the Cherokee turnpike at about 75, lol.
But yeah, a newer vehicle will proably be in my future by the end of the summer.....all this highway driving has been killing my '72. I love it but it is less than practical for what i use it for.

i hear ya man, i am waist deep in the transfer case swap from hell, my truck's been off the road about 3 weeks now. it seems that whenever i have a day off, it f**king snows...and since the trucks parked in the driveway, I don't really want to work on it when I cant feel my hands.
on friday, it was 65, and as soon as I got home I relocated the crossmember. then it dropped to 30 and snowed 4" that night. today, it was around 40 with a vicious wind and rain/snow all day. i'm glad i can bum rides off people, but I HATE not being able to drive the truck.
