i am going to be putting 4 inch drop springs and relocated shocks in the rear and was wondering if i need to buy the adjustable track bar, i was thinking of measuring the difference cutting out some of the center and rewelding it back together, and repainting it black? would this work? would it be too hard to measure the difference ?

Panhard bar is same as track bar...If you need a different bar I wouldn't reommend cutting and welding, not that it wouldn't work, but it would be alot of work and if you dork it up you get to do it again, an adjustable makes life much simpler.

It would be easiest to get a track-bar kit from ECE....however....

If you have some welding and fabrication skills, you can make your own or lengthen your stock setup to the appropriate length so that the rearend is centered at ride height.

I did something similar on my 72' with airbags. I used the original bar, lengthened it with some 1/4 wall thickness pipe. and used the stock frame mount and then built another mount out of the lower rear shock bracket and boxed it. It works great, cost me about $5 and my rearend only moves less than an inch side to side when its dropped.

Basically, you can make anything if you've got the right tools and the skills. I say go for it, and if it doesn't work try the kit.

I just got one this last weekend for my lift. I found out I was 1/2" off center. I got mine at the car and truck shop for $62. works great.

I have the ECE 4/6 drop on my 72 with the adjustable track bar. I thought I had it adjusted perfectly and took it to my buddy's shop for an alignment, found that I was way off. he has a 4 wheel alignment machine (most good shops do). Just something to think about because if you weld it you are stuck where you are and can't adjust it.

I used an early classics track bar kit then modified the mount to fit inside the I.D. of the pass side trialing arm. This was done beccause of my c-notch onthe burb. Works great and I get less than a 1/2" movement side to side from ride hight to zero psi in my air ride. I got thid idea from a board member slammeded 67 I beleive. pics are on his website: www.jayspot.com

well, id rather have the adjustable bar, but i cant fathom spending 130 bucks for the ECE one or does someone know where to get one cheaper, i can imagine ill already be spending 2 hundred something on drop springs shocks and relocation mounts....
