Re: gofundme for engine
My 71 GMC had a GM Performance 330HP 350HO. It was very reliable and fit the truck perfect. Miss that engine......
I think you could buy it for around $5300 - turn key.

Re: gofundme for engine
vortec 350 1900.00
ramget cam swap 170 1.6 rockers 200 beehive springs ls6-9 take outs 70.00 comp retainers 45 Edelbrook performance intake 225 330-340 hp.. 572 is nice.. but after you spend the money for the engine.. now, you need to spend money on everything behind it.. then the chassis.. |

Get the 572 and never look back. Bragging rights! I got $5 on it!

Re: gofundme for engine
unless it's for show, as in a show-only truck, or unless you're drag racing it, it's kind of a waste of money. I'd say buy or build the engine that suits your needs, not your wants. Don't get me wrong, I probably sound like an old fuddy duddy... and there was a time when I was absolutely convinced I needed a tunnel ram and dual holleys on a 57 chev I owned. I saved and finally got the motor done and it was a pain in the butt. Reliability is more fun for me these days. I'm sure the 572 is reliable, but if you don't need 700+ hp, it's not worth the extra $. James has a good point as well - if you ever plan to use it, it will cost a lot more than the 572 itself.

Re: gofundme for engine
I loved it. It was smooth driving, had a nice rumble, and just floated in my lwb. I can honestly say it was perfect for the truck with a rebuilt TH350. It had enough power, but didn't wreck everything connected to it. Plus, it was true GM performance. There are a lot of hi-hp crates out there from other companys for much less. I cant knock them because I haven't had one, but I knew there was GM backing this one, and all components with it. I believe the old fella that bought it got it from summit.

Re: gofundme for engine
I liked it much better than the 454 that my swb 4wd 71 had. That was Gm too, but a replacement for a mid 80 early 90 truck. About 250-275hp.

Re: gofundme for engine
Makes me miss it every time I put the pedal down on my stock 72 super with the 307. 307 is good, smooth running engine, but no comparison.

Re: gofundme for engine
i got a job too and 3 kids to support.....but I'm still committed to my $10 to see that 572 dropped in.......... Ive wasted $10 in lesser spots. That is contingent on full build thread and videos and of course a rockin smoke show when its installed.

Intake, four barrel carb, distributor $700-$800. 300+ HP, runs smooth and gets good gas mileage. |

Re: gofundme for engine
I'm not the bragging type, but I see more bragging rights in building up a small block that spanks some big block butt than slipping in a ready-made 572. Buying is easy, just takes money. Building takes knowledge and skill on top of money.
GM Performance crate engines are great. They're all good. They are brand new everything.

Re: gofundme for engine
Contact Radley Chevrolet in VA. I just bought a crate 350 from them and they are the cheapest in the land. Free shipping and no sales tax is what sealed it for me!
