Door glass not sealing

Son of a... my plans were to replace all my glass with factory "green tint" glass. How hard is it to cut a flat piece of glass to match another? Sheesh.

I called a local glass place and they said they could cut it out of laminated glass if i had a template. The glass i had trouble with came from LMC but i went ahead and ordered oer brand glass today. Ill let you know if it fits better.

I got my new oer door glass and installed the drivers side today. The glass is much closer to the original but i am still lacking a little from the top of the glass going up against the door run seal. It is up in the run but not compressed at the top. Is this common?

Without actually being there it is really hard to say what is going on. I guess I would just replace the regulator and see what that does.

Yes, the glass should fit tight at the top.

This could be a real possibility. What does the gap look like around the outside of the door to body? I am fighting this on my '72 Dually right now....

LocDoc, reform the frame of the door to match the cab using a 3 foot 4x4 as a hammer. It moves around quite easily. Use a small 2x spacer so when you hit the frame you are wood on wood to the non lip part of the frame.

There is plenty of depth in the glass channel for it to seal the glass after reshaping.

I figured you would see the similar post on this same issue where I explained your problem. The upper glass run channel that extends from top to back then inside the channel inside the door is not seated at the transition from the channel to the door.
To confirm this remove the glass run channel from inside the door, just unbolt it at both places and slide it down a bit. Your window will then roll all the way up into the top of the door confirming the problem. Then when you reinstall the channel make sure at the transition to the door the run channel is fully seated. Problem solved.
You didn't need new glass. The overall shape of the glass is not all that critical since the channel is so deep.

I have reformed everything on this door. Believe it or not I have been building these trucks since 2004 and this is the first aftermarket door I have ever worked with. It will also be the last.... The only reason I have it is because it was on the truck when I got it. I have finally figured out that part of the problem is that the holes for the door latch are punched in the wrong place.

If the glass doesn't seal at the top you will get wind noise, It doesn't matter how deep the channel is.

The glass i got from LMC was off dimension quite a bit but the glass from oer is very close to the same as original. I am only lacking a 1/16 to 1/8 from the glass sealing at the top. My doors are aftermarket so this may be my issue.

The channel at the top of the door is pretty "deep" Are you saying when the window is up there's an actual open gap between the glass and seal?

Yes. Its going up in there but not compressing against the seal.

Take out that back weather-strip channel at the back of the door then roll it up and post back. I'm sure the top to back run weatherstrip is not seated inside the door and the glass is binding at that point.

I sent back the LMC glass and got the oer glass. They were much closer to original and are sealing.

I'm having the same problem, my window will not roll all the way up. After a lot of frustration, I figured out that the metal frame going around the top of my new aftermarket door, is not formed correctly. I plan on removing it and welding the old door frame back on.
