AC delay before cold air - mean anything?

Took my truck for the first spring drive a week or so ago. About 20 minutes into the drive I started getting warm, so fired up the AC. It blew hot air at first, and then about 20 seconds later it got cold.

My -hope- is that maybe the heater control valve wasn't closed so it had to flush the heat out of the heater core before it could make cold air.

Or, maybe I've got a leak and being low on refrigerant will cause this... basically, that's my concern, whether or not a delay before cold is produced could signal anything about the system.

It clearly didn't ALL leak out if it did leak at all, because it worked pretty well once it had some time to catch up.

Re: AC delay before cold air - mean anything?

You have to remember that there is warm air in the air box, that has to be worked out before the cold air can be blown on you. Warm air being blown out at first is normal. the only time you would have to worry about something is if it stayed blowing hot. I'm guessing this is the first time you have used the AC this year?
