Re: Trans options
yes. a 66 here, but same process. If you're gonna do burnouts, you'll need more than a T5 (OTKO or NV-type). If just gonna drive normally, T5 will be fine.
Most all the parts you'll need are listed herein. Generally speaking, the T5 pecking order is this: - a "World Class" often denoted as a "WC" has a needle bearing for the countershaft, a little more sturdy, but not the be-all/end all. - an S10 T5 will have the stick location fwd enough for a bench seat, however, it also requires a spacer to make up for the extra length of the input shaft (see thread - homemade, several places sell them though). - Camaro T5 has correct length input shaft, but the stick location is too far back for a bench - and it is "twisted" around to work with a Camaro console, etc. - Best of both worlds is a Camaro T5 with an S10 tailshaft, but generally speaking, you'd need two transmissions to do that, so easiest route (if you have a bench seat) is to go with a S10 T5 and add the spacer. - If you go the S10 route with a spacer, will need to cut the bearing release collar a little bit (see thread) or it will interfere with the clutch fingers (no relation to Rolly). - Astro van clutch kit is the way to go - recommend full kit, i.e. don't mix/match an Astro van clutch disk with your old chev truck pressure plate, etc. Need to maintain correct full stacked height. See thread. Good luck! It's a good swap, makes for much more enjoyable driving. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=482069 |

Re: Trans options
Great Info here on the T5. I am going with the S10 T5 behind my 6 Cylinder.
